Solar Taks Genesis was founded by Lerato Takalo in 2018. Lerato is a Sustainability Consultant as of 2020, specializing in the following sectors:

• EHS consulting at Sibanye Gold Mine on biodiversity management.
• Environmental consulting at Sibonisiwe Coal Laboratory Services with an emphasis on waste management.
• EIA/BA (Environmental Impact Assessment/Basic Assessment) at Elyon Lubricants.
• EHS consulting at Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality on wastewater treatment plants.
• Material mapping to set framework for sustainability strategy at Our Hiraya.
• A research project to calculate Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions at LTM Energy.

In 2013, Lerato was instrumental in the development and implementation of ISO14001 at Eskom Distribution North West for accreditation.

2. Waste management by following an integrated approach in servicing domestic, commercial, industrial and mining sectors. We identify and advise on waste management solutions in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
3. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) by screening and scoping to determine the need and scope of the EIA. Baseline data collection to establish existing environmental conditions and predict impacts to identify and assess potential environmental effects.Mitigate and find alternatives to propose an approach to avoid and reduce impacts. Public consultation to involve necessary stakeholders and the public in the EIA process.
4. Ensure Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance with ISO systems (ISO14001 & ISO45001).
5. Material mapping to set a framework for sustainability strategy and governance applying risk management. Mitigate material risks by adopting mitigation and adaptation strategies.

We have conducted a research project for LTM Energy on 16 African countries and Afghanistan to calculate most accurately Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. We sourced Scope 2 grid emission factors for each country. We confirmed the breakdown of Scope 2 grid energy mix being used by the utility companies, such that the grid feed can be split into renewable vs non-renewable sources on the dashboard. We identified and listed the most accurate Tier emission Scope 1 calculation methodology for each country.
